Crafting for a Cause: Animal Rescue Austrailia

Event Date

January 21, 4:00pm - 5:00pm

Event Details

Join us for an emergency crafternoon to benefit the wildlife impacted by the devastating brushfires across Australia. Craft projects will include cloth joey pouches, bat wraps and crochet nests for birds and other small animals. We will be using the crafting patterns and guidelines approved by the Animal Rescue Craft Guild of Australia.

You don't need to be crafty to help out! We need all hands on deck to help cut patterns, stuff pillows, and pin projects to be sewn.

Donation Items in Need:

  • All-purpose thread
  • Soft fabric (flannel, polar fleece, cotton, jersey - upcycled sheets or t-shirts will work)
  • Yarn (8 ply or thicker, cotton or wool are fine; please avoid fluffy yarns like mohair)
  • Polyfil
  • Straight pins

A box for craft supply donations and completed projects will be available in the Adult Services Department during regular library hours. Donations will be accepted through 8pm on Monday, January 27th.

Please see the Animal Rescue Craft Guild Group on Facebook for approved patterns. Patterns will be located under the ‘Files’ tab. On your browser this tab is found on the left hand side of the screen. On a mobile this list will be at the top under the Craft Guild header. *If you  plan to knit or crochet, please bring your own hooks/needles.

* Please note that although the Animal Rescue Craft Guild has temporarily halted craft hubs to assess inventory, we will be sending completed projects to rescues in need as soon as possible.
