Growing up as an only child\, her trips with her parents involved courthouses and cemeteries.\nWhile her own children were young\, she was asked to be the Family History Director in northcentral Ohio. Her research skills deepened\, and soon she was invited to speak at conferences and webinars around the United States.\nThe author of several Legacy QuickGuides on the Appalachian states\, she has also filmed as an instructor for Ancestry Academy and is a former researcher for Ancestry ProGenealogists. She was recognized for her work by being awarded the title of Fellow of the Ohio Genealogical Society in 2018\, as well as receiving the Laura G. Prescott Award for Exemplary Service in Genealogy.\n  \nRichard Hill\nRichard Hill was the first adoptee to identify his birth family through genetic genealogy DNA tests. To share what he learned with other adoptees and genealogists Richard created his first DNA-focused website in 2008.\nHis pioneering application of genetic genealogy was featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal in 2009. Since then\, he has advised thousands of adoptees\, genealogists\, and others seeking to find lost relatives or confirm suspected relationships.\nToday\, his new DNA Favorites website is a one-stop resource for anyone interested in genetic genealogy. He is a popular speaker on DNA testing topics and continues to share news\, tips\, and DNA testing success stories on social media.\nRichard’s award-winning memoir is Finding Family: My Search for Roots and the Secrets in My DNA. It is available in print\, Kindle\, and audiobook formats on Amazon. His Guide to DNA Testing\, a Kindle short book\, gives readers just enough information to choose the right DNA tests for their purposes.\nRichard serves on the Advisory Board of DNA Quest\, a program that periodically distributes free DNA tests to adoptees and their birth families. He is a member of the Genealogical Speakers Guild\, the International Society of Genetic Genealogy\, and the American Adoption Congress. Richard lives in Michigan with his wife of 54 years. SUMMARY:The Graham Brothers Tractors and Evansville
DESCRIPTION:Michael E. Keller\, author of the recently released book The Graham-Bradley Tractor: A History will present a program in the Browning Gallery at the Willard Library on Saturday\, June 10th\, at 1:00 p. m. \nAlthough this new farm tractor history deals primarily with the introduction of the iconic Graham-Bradley tractor 0f 1937\, Keller’s presentation will focus on the two Graham farm tractors designed and built in Evansville in 1915 and 1919. Keller’s offering will be enhanced by images of these tractors\, their introductions\, and merchandising. \nThe Graham brothers\, Joseph\, Robert\, and Ray\, were natives of Washington\, Indiana. Raised on their father’s farm\, the brothers first manufacturing endeavor–glass bottle manufacturing in Loogootee–was wildly successful. Following the turn of the century\, the brothers established a large plant in Evansville to meet ever increasing bottle demand. The trio’s subsequent manufacture of the hybrid “Graham Truck Builder\,” the Graham Brothers truck line\, and bodies for the Graham-Paige automobiles will be emphasized in Keller’s talk. The integral business relationship with William McCurdy and his various Hercules firms will also be explained. \nThe presentation will be followed by a question and answer session concerning the huge impact the various Graham brothers’ manufacturing enterprises had on the commerce\, the city\, and the people of Evansville. \nPersonally inscribed copies of the book will be available following Keller’s presentation. The M. T. Publishing Company\, Inc. of Evansville is the publisher of this third Graham history book.

DESCRIPTION:Join us as Mark Cirino presents “Ernest Hemingway: One True Sentence” on Monday\, April 17 at 6:00pm in the Browning Gallery (lower level) at Willard Public Library. Book signing to follow! \n\nErnest Hemingway’s cartoonish “Papa” persona – the brawler\, boozer\, braggart\, big game hunter\, and chronic womanizer— often overshadows his greatness as a writer. In this presentation\, we will ignore the temptations of biography and myth to concentrate instead on the most enduring contribution of Hemingway’s life: his writing. Using Hemingway’s “one true sentence” credo as inspiration\, we will examine representative sentences from texts such as The Sun Also Rises\, A Farewell to Arms\, and A Moveable Feast to discover techniques that gave his work such lasting power. \n\n\nDr. Mark Cirino is a Professor of English and Melvin M. Peterson Endowed Chair of English at the University of Evansville\, where he has taught American literature for fifteen years. He has authored or edited ten books\, including Ernest Hemingway: Thought in Action\, Reading Hemingway’s Across the River and into the Trees\, and most recently\, One True Sentence: Writers & Readers on Hemingway’s Art\, which he edited with Michael Von Cannon. He hosts the Hemingway Society’s popular One True Podcast\, which explores Ernest Hemingway’s life\, work\, and world.\n

This event would not be possible without the financial donation from Berry Global and other contributions from local businesses. \n \nThe festivities begin at 4:00PM with floor by floor trick-or-treating for children inside of Willard Public Library. Then at 5:30PM outside\, food trucks The Grilled Cheese Queen\, Chino Taco and Sweet Dreams À La Mode along with the beer garden (age 21+) will open. At approximately 6:15PM\, our first movie of the night\, Hocus Pocus will begin. Psycho\, the second movie of our double feature will begin shortly after Hocus Pocus. WPL Staff from each department will judge costumes during the event\, so dress up in your favorite costume to win gift cards. \nPlease park in the Berry Global Parking lot and bring your own chairs or blankets. This event is open to the public. Trick-or-treating and movies are free.
