Exploration of a Neighborhood: Tepe Park by Jason Hardgrave

May 21 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Embrace the vibrant history of Southwestern Indiana! Mark your calendars for the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm from September- November and February-May and join us in the Browning Gallery at Willard Public Library. The Southwestern Indiana Historical Society (SWIHS) has exciting, informative programs waiting just for you. Dive into the past and let your local heritage come alive.

Beginning with the dedication of its namesake in 1947, the neighborhood surrounding Tepe Park reflects the cyclical patterns of many similar neighborhoods in Evansville, in Indiana, and nationally.  The area derived not only its name but much of its community identity from the park.  With each addition to the park, a new opportunity to illustrate the potential of the neighborhood was born.  Through many rounds of economic and social stress the community surrounding the park has rallied and fought back.  Today Tepe Park continues to add positive features to its identity with key champions advocating for revitalization and a new identity for Tepe Park, one built on its remarkable and resilient history.
