This index was created and is provided free of charge by Willard Library, Vanderburgh County’s best source for genealogy and local history information. The Biography Annotated Index is part of the Joan C. Marchand Collection, donated to Willard Library with the assistance of Deborah Marchand in 1997, after her mother’s death. Joan C. Marchand worked in the Historic Preservation Office of the City of Evansville from 1978 to 1996, when she retired as Historic Preservation Officer. Marchand authored numerous publications on Evansville’s history and architecture, and was the recipient of several awards, including the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana Servaas Award in 1995. She was also a longtime member of the Friends of Willard Library.
